Watson’s allegations against a Duke player aren’t the first to be made public during Krzyzewski’s legendary run at the school, which includes five NCAA titles and 1,121 wins since he took the helm in 1980.
After Krzyzewski's press conference, Duke handed out the following statement to the media: "Duke first learned of the allegations involving a student-athlete [Friday] night when they were reported by the media.
Another woman, Meredith Watson, also accused Fairfax of sexual assault, alleging that he raped her while they were both attending Duke University in 2000.

Krzyzewski responded to that allegation for the first time after Duke defeated Virginia 81-71 Saturday night.
The allegation comes from Meredith Watson, who has also accused Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax of sexual assault.
A person with knowledge of the alleged sexual assault by the Duke basketball player told USA TODAY Sports the incident occurred in 1999.
Meredith Watson, in a statement released earlier Friday by her lawyer, said Fairfax committed a "premeditated and aggressive" sexual assault of Watson while both were students at Duke in 2000.
Duke’s student newspaper, The Chronicle, detailed two sexual abuse allegations made against guard Rasheed Sulaimon after Sulaimon became the first player in Krzyzewski’s tenure to be dismissed from the team in 2015.
A second sexual assault allegation has been made by a new victim who claims Democrat Lt. Governor of Virginia, Justin Fairfax, raped her while they were in college at Duke. The victim, Meredith Watson, says she has emails and Facebook messages discussing the rape.
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski says he's not sure if a rape allegation against one of his former players is "true or not” and he didn't know about the accusation until hours after it became public Friday.
“I say again without reservation: I did not sexually assault or rape Meredith Watson, Vanessa Tyson or anyone else,” Fairfax told The Washington Post.
In a statement later Friday, Watson described an incident with an unspecified Duke basketball player because "Fairfax has chosen to attack his victim again."
Fairfax faces impeachment and Northam told King he believes it took courage for the women to come forward with their stories, calling the accusations “very, very serious.”
